In information technology, the hardware is the physical aspect of computers, telecommunications, and other devices. The term arose as a way to distinguish between the "box" and the electronic circuitry and components of a computer from the program you put in it to make it do things. The program came to be known as the software.
Computer hardware refers to the physical devices that make up a computer. Examples include the keyboard, monitor, and disk drive.
Hardware devices can be classified into four distinct categories:
Input devices: For raw data input.
Processing devices: To process raw data instructions into information.
Output devices: To disseminate data and information.
Storage devices: For data and information retention.
